There are many hair styles you can have in your hair but with micro braids, the hair style can last for months. There is a great decision that you need to think of because of the length of this hair style. You can have these braids in for 3 months or longer.

Pull the braids tightly, but not so tight that they hurt your scalp. Continue braiding the hair all the way down. Secure the ends with braid sealer or tie off with a slipknot. Repeat until all of the hair on the nape of the neck is braided.

How long will it take to turn my micro braids into dreadlocks?

This is a good question but most commonly this is usually answered by many stylists at about 6-12 months given you follow my simple steps above.

How long does it take to get a full head of micro braids?

I will answer this from my own experience as it will take about 1-2 salon working days, so basically about 3-6 hours depending on hair length the size of the locs accessories or if you would like additional styling.

Dreadlocks Simple Instructions/Steps:

If you maintain your Micro Braids long enough and well enough you can turn your braids into a nice set of locs, YOU MUST CHANGE THE SEALER/TIE AT THE END OF YOUR BRAIDS IF IT NEEDS IT ONCE IN A WHILE,GENTLE WASH AND DRY ONLY, A LITTLE PALM ROLLING AND LEAVE THEM IN LONG ENOUGH TO FORM THE DREADS YOU WISH TO ACHIEVE. Micro Braids are the first step into getting nice Dread Locks naturally. Micro Braids are Locks, in its beginning stage.

We live in an era where everybody knows somebody Caucasian African Indian etc., who has locs. or has had locs themselves.

Dreadlocks

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Two sadhus (holy hermits) with their hair in jata style dreadlocks.[1]

Dreadlocks, also locs, dreads, or in Sanskrit, Jata,[1] are ropelike strands of hair formed by matting or braiding hair.[2] Dreadlocks can also be formed through a technique called "twist and rip", as well as backcombing and rolling.[3] While leaving hair to its own devices – foregoing brushing, combing or cutting the hair, also known as the "neglect" technique – will generally result in tangles and mats, the formation of evenly sized dreadlocks often takes planning and maintenance.

Various methods are used to encourage the formation of locks such as backcombing, braiding, rolling and the crochet hook method. All of these methods require ongoing work to be applied to the dread before it becomes neat and tight or mature. However, if the crochet hook method is applied by a skilled hand throughout the length of the dread, then the resulting dreadlocks are instantly tight and will not need any rolling.[4]

A common misconception is that those who have consciously formed dreadlocks do not wash their hair, but this is usually not the case; in fact many dreadlock care regimens require the wearer to wash his or her hair as regularly as non-locked hair.[5] Because of the required maintenance, the additional belief that dreadlocks have an odor to them is also a misconception.[6]

Some of the other ways Ive created and worn my Dreadlocks is by back combing, matting, twist n rip, and rolling long hair for the larger Dreadlock look and feel, personally I prefer the micro braided lock look. Please note braided locks are much easier to comb out than the back combing, rolling, twist n rip and matting or neglected locks, and your hair will grow significantly over time. When we see people with nice looking dreadlocks or any dreadlocks we often admire their spunk and bravery to be able to pull off such a look without doubt and fear. This style of hair do is for some people and not for some people, but it is always admired by many near and far.

Long hair is a security blanket for me. I cut it short a few years ago and I really never want to do that again. When I do cut it, I cut it myself.
